Beatrice Arthur

I knew I would be writing a blog post today, but I didn’t know it would be about this. The LEGENDARY Ms. Beatrice Arthur that we all know and love from Maude and The Golden Girls has passed on. She was 86. Apparently she had cancer, which to my knowledge wasn’t reported before.

I had recently been on a Bea kick of sorts. I had been watching Maude episodes, on DVD and on YouTube. I had been thinking about writing to her, just to let her know I appreciate her before she really did die. I knew she was up in her 80’s and let’s be realistic, the chances of her being around a few more years were slim. I put off the letter, and now I feel nothing but regret. But that will disappear.

The works and impact of Bea Arthur WON’T. Maybe now they will release the rest of Maude on DVD, as I would love to have it in my collection. I bought the first season of Maude the same day it came out a few years ago, I think it was in the month of February. Check out a brilliant performance of Bea, as Maude, HERE.

Here’s to Bea, May 13, 1922 – April 25, 2009. We love you, honaye. And thank you for being a friend.

Blog Bitten

HONAYES, I just don’t feel like podcasting at the moment. That’s why y’all are getting a damn BLOG! I haven’t “blogged” in a bit, so I thought I’d bring it back, as well as try to do it more. I know, I know, podcasting is audio blogging, (and sometimes i like it better just to SAY it.) but a lot of the times I get so wrapped up into a topic that has so many points I just FORGET. Art is never finished. And I can always think of new things to say.

Today I woke up, looked at my tweets, and felt compelled to leave one myself. I think it was along the lines of “I’m moving on.” I mean it. How long can we dwell on one subject that brings nothing but anger and turmoil? Don’t get me wrong, you must ALWAYS address these situations, but know when to move on. I can only be on my gay soap box for so long until it just gets tiring. Not that the cause isn’t important, it’s just that I can’t fight 24/7. Injustice is angering and when I’m full of anger I can’t enjoy the things I should be enjoying. I have my fair share of depressing moments, and would like to hang onto the moments of non-depression that are dealt to me.

Meanwhile, since everyone knows I’m so YOUNG and whatever, I’ve been reading up on subjects, drawing my own conclusions and trying to be a better person. I like to have fun, which is something I can do here. But I can also be very serious. I enjoy both different states. And I’m glad I have SOMEWHERE I can express myself.
